Davide Rossi – EuCERC Secretary General
|Brussels, 3 December 2025|
The EuCER Council – the European Consumer Electronics Retail Council – has announced the appointment of its Secretary General, Davide Rossi, to the Board of EuroCommerce.
EuroCommerce is the leading European organisation representing the retail and wholesale sector, bringing together national associations from 27 countries, numerous sectoral bodies, and major international companies. The sector accounts for over one billion daily transactions across Europe, supports one in seven jobs, and provides employment opportunities for approximately 26 million people. EuroCommerce is also the recognised social partner of the European Commission for retail and wholesale, playing a key role in shaping EU policies.
The appointment, formalised during the General Assembly held in Brussels on 2 December, reflects the growing importance of the sector represented by the EuCER Council, the European federation of electrical and electronics retailers, where Davide Rossi serves as Managing Director.
Today, the EuCER Council brings together leading specialised retail groups and distribution chains across Europe and acts as a key interlocutor for EU institutions on major policy areas, including sustainability, the circular economy, the management of electronic waste (WEEE), market regulation, and sector competitiveness.
“I am honoured to join the Board of EuroCommerce with the aim of strengthening a credible and effective European representation for our sector,” said Davide Rossi.
“Now more than ever, it is essential to uphold the principle of ‘same market, same rules’, ensuring legality, transparency, and a level playing field for all operators — both offline and online, within and outside the EU.”
He also expressed his thanks to Hans Carpels for the nomination and to Juan Manuel Morales for endorsing it.
As also highlighted during the recent AIRES–Confcommercio conference “Online Commerce in Europe at a Crossroads”, organised in collaboration with Salvatore De Meo, the European digital market is currently facing a number of increasingly systemic challenges. The entry into the EU of products that do not comply with safety standards — often lacking adequate controls — poses growing risks for both consumers and businesses. At the same time, unfair competition from non-EU operators, facilitated by practices such as customs evasion, undervaluation of goods, and regulatory loopholes, is creating significant imbalances to the detriment of companies operating in full compliance with EU rules.
