High-level dialogue brings together retailers, consumer organisations and industry representatives to discuss the implementation of the Right to Repair Directive and the future of circular electronics in Europe.
Here is a short clip featuring the highlights of the event.
Brussels, 6 July 2026 – Members of the European Parliament, retailers, consumer organisations and industry representatives gathered at the European Parliament last week to discuss the implementation of the EU Right to Repair Directive and the role of circular electronics in supporting Europe’s sustainability and competitiveness objectives.
Organised by the EuCER Council and hosted by MEP Elena Donazzan and MEP Dimitris Tsiodras, the conference “Circular Electronics in Europe: From WEEE Management to the Implementation of the Right to Repair Directive” brought together stakeholders from across the consumer electronics ecosystem to exchange views on extending product lifetimes, improving WEEE collection and recycling, strengthening repair services and supporting the transition towards a more circular economy.
The event offered an opportunity for dialogue between policymakers, retailers, consumer organisations and industry representatives on the practical challenges and opportunities linked to the implementation of the Right to Repair Directive. Alongside retailers, participants also included representatives from BEUC, Right to Repair Europe and Applia, reflecting the broad range of perspectives involved in the discussion.
“We are grateful to MEP Elena Donazzan and MEP Dimitris Tsiodras – stated Hans Carpels, President of the EuCER Council – for hosting this event and for giving us the opportunity to present the perspective of the retail sector. We are pleased that retailers had the opportunity to contribute to this discussion and that a constructive dialogue has been established. Bringing together retailers, consumer organisations and industry representatives around the same table is an important step towards supporting the effective implementation of the Right to Repair Directive and strengthening Europe’s circular electronics ecosystem.”
Throughout the morning, representatives from Euronics International, Expert International, E-Square and Unieuro shared experiences and perspectives on market developments, Extended Producer Responsibility, national approaches to WEEE management, repair services and the implementation of the Right to Repair Directive.
The conference concluded with a roundtable discussion – moderated by Davide Rossi, Managing Director of the EuCER Council – featuring representatives from BEUC, Right to Repair Europe and iServices (Worten’s portfolio), providing participants with the opportunity to exchange views on the practical implementation of the Right to Repair Directive and the next steps for Europe’s circular electronics ecosystem.
For the EuCER Council, the event represents a positive step in strengthening dialogue between retailers, policymakers, consumer organisations and industry stakeholders. The discussions highlighted the value of continued engagement as Europe moves forward with the implementation of its circular economy objectives.
