PRESIDENT HANS CARPELS ELECTED

The first Annual General Meeting of the newly-born European Consumer Electronics Retail Council (EuCER), the non-profit association established from the will of Aires, E-Square, Euronics International, Expert International and Unieuro, with the purpose of defining and promoting a clear and non-discriminatory, legal and regulatory framework for the retailsector of consumer electronics and household appliances in Europe, has just concluded.

Throughout the day, the organizational chart was defined, representing the founding organizations:

  • President: Hans Carpels – Euronics International
  • Secretary General: Davide Rossi – AIRES
  • Board:
    • Dieter Mathys – Expert International
    • Andrea Scozzoli – Unieuro
    • Paul Tyson – E-Square

During the session, the accession of Worten, part of the Sonae Group, historical Portuguese commercial reality, was unanimously accepted, and the activity plan for 2020 was approved, also including, among the many initiatives, theacceptance of EuCER by Eurocommerce, which represents all European retail and wholesale traders, online and offline.

The newly elected President, Hans Carpels, warmly thanking all the members for their confidence, commented: « I am proudto be the spokesperson for a sector which, as far as associated companies alone are concerned, exceeds 45 billion euros, with morethan 300,000 employees in the 28 countries of the European Union. A sector which is in fact an important “innovation showcase”as a whole. It is an assignment of great responsibility and I assure straight away that we will work with commitment and cohesionso that it is clear how much the companies involved can bring benefit and sustainability to the European economy».
